Overview
Built in 1942, this oval sun-room with it’s jalousie windows and red concrete floors hadn’t seen much attention until its current owner. Having inherited her mother’s home full of family antiques and vintage collectibles, she wanted something fresh and new for her sun-room that incorporated her newly inherited family pieces. Updating the jalousie windows wasn’t in the budget, so we started with giving everything a fresh coat paint. The walls were painted Snowbound (SW 7004) and the floors Agreeable Gray (SW7029), both from Sherwin-Williams. The inspiration for the blue accent color came from her grandmother’s antique blue velvet chair. Because the sun-room had almost no wall space, we attached hemp rope to her families artwork and hung them from glass knobs over the windows. New to the space are the sofa, rug, bookcase, chandelier, media chest, and lots of plants – the rest are her families things. Blending the new with the old gave her a beautiful, functional, sun-room surrounded by the things she loves.
