Overview

It was time! After years of having to follow in the footsteps of the main house, which meant periodic updates using unwanted furniture from the main house left over after one of its makeovers, the homeowners felt it was about time they gave the guesthouse its on transformation and identity.

Dormer windows and beachy, cottage style furnishings where the inspiration for a modernized “Hamptons style” style decor. It’s a guesthouse after all, shouldn’t your guests feel like they’re on vacation?!

Salvaging the upholstered pieces, beds, and artwork, we went to work. True to the Hamptons vibe, the goal was to create a mixture of rustic comfort with a feeling of luxury. We started by giving the space new driftwood-style flooring and furnishings to bring in natural textures. Then complimented that with a crisp coat of white paint and ship-lap walls in the foyer, the family room and the hall between the bedrooms. A splurge that made a huge impact on the aesthetic transformation from tired, leftover furnishings, to a fresh Hamptons style cottage.

You know you hit the nail on the head when your homeowner reports back that: “Our guests this weekend said they had the best night’s sleep in the guesthouse last night – same bed they slept in last time – just new surroundings.”
